JAMA, published continuously since 1883, is an international peer-reviewed general medical journal published 48 times per year. JAMA is the most widely circulated medical journal in the world. The online version is freely available or nearly so to institutions in developing countries through the World Health Organization's HINARI program. JAMA's 2013 impact factor is 35. JAMA's acceptance rate is 9.5% of the more than 7100 major manuscripts it receives annually. In 2014, the median time for an initial editorial decision for submitted manuscripts was 4 days; the median time from submission to acceptance for all articles was 35 days; and the median time from acceptance to publication was 33 days.
